Campus Life
The welcoming gate to the Darmaga Campus of IPB is the first landmark for the students who will attend lectures of IPB in Darmaga. The campus is located in the western border of Bogor City and Bogor regency, and surrounded by 14 villages that offer approximately 1300 rented houses / rooms or boarding houses to accommodate almost 25 000 students of IPB.

For new students of IPB, getting accommodation is not to worry about. In their first year they are required to stay in the student dormitory with a capacity of 3000 for male and female students. Near the dorm supporting facilities are available such as canteens, cafeteria, restaurants, public hones, computer rental, chemists’ and kiosks /shops selling daily needs.

The student dormitory is not just a place to stay, but more importantly it is a medium for the academic and multicultural guidance program. This program is intended to facilitate the students to adapt to campus life, student affairs and development of soft skills, such as communication, organization, and understanding of cultural diversity. For such purposes, the dormitory of the first year students is equipped with a coaching organization called the Management Body to deal with Academic Programs, Multi Cultural Program and the First-Year Student Dormitory, which consists of Head Dormitory, Unit Manager and Dormitory’s Senior Resident. The dorm’s senior resident is a senior student or older classmate who stays in the dorm to help new students with academic and non-academic problems.

Besides guidance for new students through the program and involvement in the management of the dorm, in IPB there are also a Team of Guidance and Counseling which consists of senior lecturers of IPB. Students can consult with the Team for any problems.

The sense of togetherness built in the dormitory of the first year common program in IPB is an emotional advantage of no equivalent anywhere else. Helping one another in joy and sorrow indirectly helps facilitate their studies. Generally, the character of helping one other continues to exist after they leave the dormitory. These students form or join a regional organization or associations of students (OMDA). The books no longer used by the older students are given to the younger classmates/students of the same hometown who are still in the first year common program. Some OMDAs are also active in promoting to schools where they come from. This promotional event is also a means of maintaining relationship with their previous schools.
